2100 North Project Update: 1/21/10

The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.

Construction crews are now on site and preparing several areas within the project for work. As part of these efforts, the planned closure of 2100 North at the railroad tracks has been scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1. Please see additional details below.

• Crews plan to fully close 2100 North between 2300 West and Pointe Meadows Drive beginning Monday, Feb. 1. This closure will continue through Fall of 2011. During this closure, motorists should use 1500 North as an alternate route.
• In order to begin widening the future mainline roadway, 1200 W. will be closed near the LDS Church to where it intersects with Thanksgiving Point Way. This closure was delayed to accommodate improvements to the detour road. Once those improvements – including widening and additional pavement – are complete, the detour will be put in place. This is expected to begin the week of 1/25 and continue for about a year while the new road is constructed.
• At the Park & Ride, parking will be restricted approximately 50 feet on either side of Thanksgiving Point Way. This restriction will accommodate road widening in the area and facilitate safe movement along the detour route.
• In the interest of safety, crews will also close the Jordan River Trail this week just north and south of the project. Access along the trail to the north and south will remain open, but there will be no connecting access through the project during construction.
• Site clearing and other earthwork will take place along the entire length of the project for the next several months.
